See what athletes and coaches are saying about Boynton Coaching

Athlete Testimonials

“Since starting with Boynton Coaching over 4 years ago, I’ve seen consistent improvement in my cycling performance. Working my way from an entry level racer to one who can win in the top tier of local and regional racing. Prior to being coached, I was prone to overuse injuries and had a difficult time mentally managing my training from day to day. With Jason’s help, I’ve been able to push my personal limits well beyond anything I ever imagined without training-induced set backs or injury. It’s been a tremendous amount of work, but every time I look back, I see steady improvement and a clear purpose to the work I’ve done. Being an analytical and critical thinker, I especially appreciate Jason’s ability to describe the basis for specific workouts and big-picture training concepts. In addition to the nuts and bolts of training, Jason’s ability to understand and help balance my work-life-training balance and what motivates and allows me to succeed have been absolutely critical to my success as an athlete.”
-David Blodgett, Elite Category 1, USA

“Jason’s coaching brought my fitness to the next level. I found I was able to maintain consistency in my day-to-day training, and being able to get Jason’s feedback and advice on racing and training was extremely beneficial. Initially I was seeking a coach that knew the science behind training and competing, and Jason delivered on that. I went on to win my first A grade race under his guidance, with many more after that. Additional highlights included: winning an iconic Western Australia stage race, a podium spot at a Gran Fondo National Championship, and a qualification to compete at the World Championships in Italy. I have never been fitter or more confident in my riding than while I was being coached by Jason. I would highly recommend him to anyone that is looking to increase their cycling performance and enjoyment of the sport through sustainable training methods that won’t leave you burnt out.“
-Corrie Johnstone (Fillmore), A-Grade Open Woman, Australia

“I’ve been doing this cycling thing for more than forty-five years, with my first race taking place in 1975. My introduction to Jason took place after winning a coaching prime in 2012, and thus began a new way of training to compete. He utilizes an all too often ignored part of training: thinking. Since our introduction I’ve been able to capture five state titles, numerous podium finishes, and numerous medals in state and national level Senior Games events. Being in my sixth decade of life, I have found it beneficial to have a knowledgeable partner and guide in my pursuit of increased fitness and recovery management. I use the word partner specifically because that’s what Jason is. I have friends who utilize other coaches and the relationships with theses coaches seems to be more detached and less personal than what Jason strives for. I feel very fortunate to have won that prime which started this new phase in my cycling life, winning.”
-Bob Anderson, Masters 50+, USA

“I liked that Jason was able to work with my rotation of work schedule. When I first started with Jason I was just a mid pack finisher. I learned from Jason what it takes to improve. I did not have huge success my first year as I was learning but my second year was amazing. I finished in first place in several races and went to Nationals. I also became road state champion in my age category and went from Cat 4 to 3. Jason does not do cookie cutter workouts for his clients.”
–Dean Lazenby, Masters 50+, USA

“Jason is a passionate and committed partner in driving improvement in cycling performance. He prides himself on proven science based methods while constantly seeking improvements via modern training techniques. Jason’s weekly programs are easy to follow and well structured. He is always available for a chat to discuss adjustments to goals, competing work/life priorities, or ideas for continual improvement.”
-Jaimie Kirkwood, A-Grade Masters, Australia

“Jason is an extremely knowledgeable coach and works with his athletes one-on-one, as well as in small structured group workouts. I am in my mid-sixties and of modest natural abilities. In the past I have been left frustrated at my lack of improvement and cycling performance and a bit prone to training injuries. Under Jason’s tutelage my cycling performance has improved noticeably and measurably. His weekly programs are well structured and he incorporates your professional and personal needs around the weekly programs. Jason has helped me reach, what I feel is, the absolute best I can get out of my mind and body as it pertains to cycling.”
-Clark Brannin, Masters rider, Australia

Coach Testimonials

“Jason’s advice has sped up my research process and given me more confidence in my training decisions. I recently ran a training scenario past Jason. He was able to recommend reference papers and offer specific ideas around the goal I was aiming for. His breadth of knowledge of the physiology of performance and the related scientific literature is impressive and valuable when searching for training solutions.”
-Damian Ruse, Cycling Coach, Host of the Semi-Pro Cycling podcast

“Jason is my go-to if I need clarification on any of the physiology underlying a training intervention I plan to implement. His training philosophies are founded in scientific research rather than dogma. He tackles each question I throw at him from an unbiased standpoint, looking first at what the research has to stay and then providing practical applications that I can take to my own athletes.”
